Merlin Field Archers are a Field Archery Club based near Ashby. They were established in August 2017 by Merlin Archery and became an independent club in November 2019. The club is associated to the English Field Archery Association (EFAA) (Governing Body), but also host occasional competitions for Archery GB.
They are based in the Staunton Harold Estate near Ashby. The club has a private car park for members, a practice range, permanent club house and a 28 – target course. Distances range from 10 yards to 80 yards and are permanently marked out. Merlin Field Archers host a selection of shoots including: monthly classification shoots which are open to all members of the EFAA; National EFAA shoots; AGB WA field competitions; and host external club shoots. New archers are welcome to join the club. The first club beginners course will be held on Sat 30th – Sun 31st July. Any new member to the club will also receive an introduction to the course and the EFAA, which includes a safety brief. The club is open 7 days a week to members. They welcome a range of bow types as directed by the EFAA including: Recurve; Compound; Barebow; Longbow; Traditional bows.

Facts about Field Archery
1 - A typical shot on a “Field” round set at 50yds.
2 - The ideal Field Archery course will be set in woods with steep slopes and as variations in ground as can be achieved safely.
3 - Field Archery is without doubt more physical than target archery, and demands high levels of concentration with a wider spectrum of skills.
4 - The wide variety of terrain, shooting conditions and rounds are the true attraction of field archery.
5 - Archers follow the course in groups of between two and four.
